Roberta Flack, Davell Crawford & Michele Hendricks

The main stage show on Saturday night featured New Orleans singer songwriter Davell Crawford and soul singer Roberta Flack.

Crawford performed solo piano and vocals mixing standards with his own compositions which made for a very nice rounded set.

Roberta Flack, with a very tight and professional backing band ran through all of her hits from the 60's and 70's. Her voice still as good as I remember it from those days, and 'Killing me softly' brought back memories of my youth and years gone by.

As mentioned in the previous blog, she does not like any photography of herself on stage as she said, 'she was worried what she might look like', so us photographers were given two minutes at the end of the show backstage - which in my opinion is a shame as I would rather remember her sitting at the piano singing, well lit and happy - than backstage, and looking a little tired.

As she left, she cried out to all around her 'Goodbye Lyon. Goodbye!' That said it all...

Later at the Club de Minuit, Michele Hendricks, daughter of Jazz legend Jon, performed with the Pierre Christophe Trio - this was just superb, she has a terrific vocal range and took the audience through a succession of wonderful songs. A great end to an indifferent evening
