One of the great things about these festivals is the social life that goes on around the festival.
On Saturday the foreign journalists were treated to lunch by Patrick and Regine Curtaud, both school teachers by profession (Patrick is also Deputy Mayor and member of the Regional Assembly), come festival time they assist and help with the running of the events with their sons who also work at the festival. Patrick and his wife are very much Anglophiles, spending most of their holidays in the UK.
Before the Roberta Flack main show a local wine emporium gave us a wine tasting of the local wines - in this case the rather excellent (and extremely expensive) Cote Rotie red and Condrieu white.
This put a little smile back on the photographers faces who had been told the Ms Flack wanted 'No photos'. Which when you have to file a review (with pictures) for the following days papers it is a bit disturbing.
However her PA did manage to arrange a two minute photo shoot after the gig (see next blog).
So if you ever wondered what went on backstage before a show here is a little insight!
