Brazilian Night at Jazz a Vienne

Last night was Brazilian night at the festival here in Vienne. The main stage shows featured Milton Nascimento playing with a quartet and the Orchestra National de Lyon - singing mainly ballads and mid tempo songs it was a pleasant if uninspiring set.

The main act was singer/guitarist Chico Cesar a much more lively show (more pop than anything else) but none the less a confident show with bags of energy.

The best music of the evening was saved for last and at the Club Mix Ramiro Musotto & band featuring pianist Omar Sosa was quite brilliant. Mixing loops, tapes and all manner of electronics the set was pulsating vibrant and totally fresh. It was great to see the club absolutely packed and the band receive and deserve huge applause.

For those who have never been to the Vienne festival there are free concerts all over the town during the afternoon and evening and most bars and restaurants have some form of musical entertainment. On the way to the Club Mix outside the Maitre Kanter restaurant was a great Spanish quartet complete with beautiful flamenco dancer. A large crowd had gathered and the music and dance was electrifying, the audience clapping along to her flamenco steps.

Two hot cats dancing the night away!
